•
ITEC Environmental Colorado Inc.
70717th Street, Suite 3120
Denver, CO 80202
303-298-1762 Phone
303-298-1783 Fax
303-274-0663 Cellular
Fax Memo
Date: September 1, l998
To: Bruce Humphries and Chris Kamnikar, DMG
From: Maxine Stewart
Fax #
Total Pages:_4,
Der Bruce ~ Chris,
Further to my phone conversation with Bruce yesterday, I am fonnrarding you a
blasting plan to complete the excavation phase of our pond construction. The
blasting has bean requested by our excavation contractor, end will be performed
by Acton Blasting, a fully I~ensed blasting contractor. We are confirming that
the rock could not be removed by ripping and needs to be blasted. This should
be a one time event, associated with the construction going on for the new pond.
The second issue I discussed with Bruce involves the coarse and fine ore, and
other equipment that was left in the mill or on the property by a previous
operator. I have attached Ted's otter to the attorney representing Hartley's
interests. If we can't get this resolved in the near future we plan to proceed to
dispose of the material as "abandoned" and to handle the equipment in question
as scrap metal.
I discussed with Bruce the possibility of incorporating the coarse and fine ore
into the dam construction for the expanded tailings pond. The ore in question
would be blended with the excavated soil and rock, and placed on the geogrid,
over the existing pond lining. Upon dam completion, it will be covered with the
double liner system and remain as foundation for the expanded pond. In this
way, it will be encapsulated between the liners from the old and new ponds, and
will not be subjected to weathering or water course mobility.
Chris is due on site today for an inspection. I will send a fax of this memo to her
et the mill so she can have it for her inspection. Thanks for your guidance.
Maxine
