Lochhead
Executive Director
M is hael8 Long
Divivon Director
This is a follow up to your September 19, 1994 response to the four
corrective actions outlined in a July 7, 1994 inspection. The
response to PB 1 included a letter and map showing the disturbed
acreage. The map shows activities which are not part of the mining
and reclamation plans, including the clay pit located in the South
Pit area and the excavation along the main plant access road.
Since these are significant changes, they must be included in an
amendment to the permit that contains revised mining and
reclamation plans and maps, describes all current and planned
mining activities, and clarifies the total acreage of the permit.
It must also include a revised reclamation cost estimate for the
operation. The amendment must be submitted to the Division no
later than February 6, 1995.
The Division acknowledges that a ground water discharge permit has
been obtained for the use of water from well #12 in your sediment
ponds (see PB-3). You still need to submit to the Division copies
of analytical results taken within the last year for water from
Well X12 tested for the presence of chlorinated solvents and
metals. This must be received by the Division no later than
February 6, 1995.
A copy of a memo from Dick Wolfe of the Water Supply Branch, North
Region, is attached. Please address these concerns.
Please call me at (303) 866-3567 with any questions.
Sincerely,
~~j;/'' ~ G'~
~ /~J /~
Gary Curtiss
Environmental Protection Specialist
C\WP51\83139.LTR
~~fi~r~,>,r~
