Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1994-096
INSPECTION DATE 5/28/04 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
OBSERVATIONS
This was an inspection of the Colorado Red Rose Pit conducted by Erica Crosby of the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology. Caleb Liesveld of Colorado Red Rose Corporation was
present during the inspection. Weather conditions on site were snowing.
The mine site is located 7 miles northwest of Lyons in Larimer County, Colorado. The
operation is a granite quarry and is permitted for a total of 1 acre. The Division holds a
bond in the amount of $500.00 in the form of a Certificate of Deposit.
A mine identification sign was posted at the entrance to the site. The quarry has been in
place prior to 1977 and is used to product 10 to 20 ton granite blocks. The blocks are sold
as monuments. Blocks are removed using high-pressure water to reduce fracturing of the
granite. Three extraction rooms were noted along the mining face. The west room is the
smallest with the approximate size of 14' high, 50' wide and 20 feet deep. The medium room
is approximately 14' high, 50' wide and 30' deep. The largest room is approximately 14'
high, 50' wide and 80' to 90• deep. The rooms exist in competent granite that is very
stable. Currently mining consists of lowering the elevation of the existing mine bench. The
operator should be reminded that the permit area is 1 acre in size. Any increase in
disturbed acreage will require an amendment to the permit. Amendment application forms may
The poatmining land use is industrial. Reclamation of the quarry will consist of leaving the
bench area for a future home site. The existing mine bench is nearly level and little
grading would be required. No seeding is proposed due to the construction of the level bench
made exclusively of granite.
I & E Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Daniel Liesveld ^ BL
OPERATOR Colorado Red Rose Corp. ^ FS
STREET 148 Cheyenne Court ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Lyons, CO 80540 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
Cc: Carl Mount; DMG
