III. CQMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. This former underground mine is reclaimed. Snow during the
previous night had mostly melted by the time of this inspection. Ground conditions
on this day were generally dry. The weather was clear and cool.
Processing Waste
The I00-year diversion ditch was traversed along its entire length and found in
good condition. The refuse slope and lower bench area appeared normal with no
visual evidence of recent slumps, slides, or damage. Rills and small gullies are
evident on the steeper portion of the refuse slope.
Revegetation
Sprouting is beginning on the refuse slope and in other flatter areas of the mine.
Cicer milkvetch and bunch grasses were noted. Interseeding efforts conducted in
the year 2000 should begin to dominate the refuse slope this year if they are to
be successful.
3
