COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection, Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspectOn <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of <br />Minerals and Geology. Ground conditions on this day were snow-covered and muddy. <br />Access was limited due to poor road conditions. The weather was windy and mild. <br />Roads <br />The road leading to the mine gate was found snow-covered but passable. It was wet and <br />muddy on the surface and frozen below ground level making travel and traction difficult. <br />Remote areas of this site were not visaed due to ground conditions. This road and the mine <br />entry road are maintained on an as-needed basis as part of the Southfield Mine permit (i~C- <br />81-014). Culverts were found clear and functional. <br />r -- •.~ <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />Snowmelt is limited due to short days <br />and persistent cool temperatures. No <br />signrficant runoff has occurred from _ ~- <br />the recent warming temperatures. ~~- = _~""'-a`.:~" <br />Exposed areas are generally free of ~"~ ~ <br />snow. <br />w <br />A small sediment pond is located east <br />of the gate at the mine entrance This <br />small pond was found dry. The <br />orphan pit and duck pond area were <br />unchanged from previous conditions. <br />Revegetauon <br />Cattle were not observed on the site <br />during the inspection. The growing <br />season is over in this region. <br />Overall, the site appeared in good <br />condition for the winter season. <br />A more thorough inspection will be <br />conducted next spring when access <br />conditions are improved. <br />FC yuc. ~ ~ ,. <br />~n e <br />
