_'

The most critical problem associated with this operation is the potential
of further high water created by spring snowmelt to cause a breach in all
banks and buffers between the river, canal, and ponds, and is a potential
and immediate hazard to the adjacent land owner from flooding, a threat
which might otherwise not exist had the above conditions not been created
as a result of the mining operation. Further, due to the proximity of
disturbance on and near the St. Vrain, accelerated sedimentation and siltation can
be expected for the St. Vtain and the above mentioned ponds. In addition,
stability is so critical along the access road between the pond and the
St. Vrain that on going erosion will no doubt create a breach regardless of
the snow melt situation, unless action is taken to prevent such a breach.
No topsoil stockpiles were observed thus compounding the reclamation problem.
~~ Reclamation goals should emphasize returning hydrologic stability to the area-
a~
~ad Ja
