<br />III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of <br />observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any <br />enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence <br />supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection conducted by <br />Division of Minerals and Geology. This site <br />total reclaimed area of about seven acres. <br />were dry and the weather was hot. <br />Availability ofi Records <br />Kent Gorham of the Colorado <br />is entirely reclaimed, with a <br />Ground conditions on this day <br />The public copy ofi the mine records is kept at the office of the County <br />Planner at the Las Animas County courthouse. All required records were <br />fiound easily and were found current. <br />Signs and Markers <br />The mine ID sign had been blown down by the high winds last month. The <br />sign was re-attached to the posts with wood screws. <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />The sediment pond was in good condition and was dry. <br />Revegetation <br />The reclaimed area vegetation appeared lush and a diverse mix of grasses, <br />fortis, and shrubs was evident. Thistles were encountered occasionally <br />and were removed mechanically. None have set flowers at this point. <br />There was no sign of grazing so far this season. Cool season grasses are <br />beginning to set seed. The Division recommends that the site not be <br />grazed this season to allow fiurther regeneration of the re-seeded <br />species. <br />Slides and Damaoe <br />The small subsidence feature repaired last year shows no sign ofi <br />settlement or further collapse. <br />Overall, the site appeared in excellent condition for the spring season. <br />Page 3 <br />
