(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn-tant_teA
INSPECTION DATE: ~-t8_-(L4 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: _~-
OBSERVATIONS
Completed an inspection of this operation as part of a Mined Land Reclamation Board directive to inspect
every mine in the state at least once every four years. The site was last Inspected in May, 1999.
This is a 132-acre Regular 112 permit located east of C-470, just off of Alameda Parkway to the south. The sffe is
still active. Mining activities are occuning in the western part of the permit. A dozer is cutting into a thick vertical
clay layer. Two scrapers are picking up the excavated material and moving it to the southern part of the permit
area where ff is being stockpiled. The material is removed when needed.
The operator continues to excavate and stockpile topsoil near the west permit boundary. If the material is not
replaced w(thin one growing season offer topsoil is no longer being deposited, the stockpile should be
protected from wind and rain erosion by vegetoflng with one of the approved grass species.
Several product and reject stockpiles are located throughout the central part of the permit area.
It appears that nearly all of the permit area has been disturbed. The operator should realize that, currently, only
53 acres are allowed to be disturbed at any onetime. Pursuant to TR-Ol, the amount of disturbed area has been
increased to 99 acres. However, the Increase in disturbance cannot occur until the Increased bond ($315,000) is
submitted and accepted by the Division.
A small frozen pond (depth unknown) was observed in the southwestern corner of the permit area. This appears
to be snowmelt runoff from upgradient but, since it is not clear whether this Is groundwater or runoff, a copy of
this report will be sent to the State Engineer's Office so they are aware of a possible water rights Issue.
The financial warranty was just re-calculated so ff will be considered sufficient for final reclamation and will not
be re-done at this time.
Did not observe any obvious problems during this inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Mr. Greg Knell
OPERATOR: Robinson Brick Co.
STREET: 1A4.5 WPCt Dartmouth Avanua
CITY/STATE/ZIP: nanvar c~ AnttnasnA
Harry Posey (e-mail)
cc: t CE
State Engineer's r BL
Office r FS
Room 818 t H`N
1313 Sherman St. 1' HMWMD (CH)
Denver, CO, r SE
80203 I' WOCD (CH)
t OTHER
