The site is located approximately 4 miles west and 1.5 miles north
of Holly, Colorado. The pit appears to be situated in an old alluvial terrace ridge.
This site is active with extraction occurring in the large eastern pit. This pit is
approximately 20-30 feet deep and was holding some water from storm activity and irrigation
runoff. The site was properly identified and the permit boundary was clearly marked by the
presence of a stock fence. The northeast corner of the pit is a substanial highwall and has
been mined nearly to the permit boundary. It was suggested that some backfillling activities
should commence in this area since the reclamation plan calls for 3H:1V slopes. It was also
suggested that the operator may want to leave enough room near the boundaries so that
material could be pushed down from the top to achieve the final required slopes instead of
pushing material upslope to meet those slope requirements. This concluded the inspection and
no problems were noted.
I & E Contact Address cc: Jim Stevens
^ CE
NAME Donald Koehn ^ BL
OPERATOR Prowers County ^ FS
STREET P.O.
