,~
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection of the Edna Mine site. Photographs of the west side of the mine were
taken by Harry Ranney of the DMG on January 24, 2001. No photos were taken of the facilities in
the Oak Creek drainage. Skies were clear. The entire mine was snow covered. No activity was
observed on the mine site, however the North Moffat Road appears to have been plowed going up to
Skyline Drive. The West Ridge Road and the Lower Moffat Road had not been plowed and they
were snow covered. Culvert locations under the roads were visible, but there is no flowing water at
this point.
Discharge from Spoil spring 1 was evident in the photos. As permitted, it is discharging into the old
irrigation ditch and flowing toward the West Ridge pond. All ponds are snow covered. The pond
outlets are not clearly visible in the photos so it is not possible to observe if there is any discharge.
Numerous animal tracks are apparent in the West Ridge area.
