<br />NEED PLAN FOR CREEDE BANTA GRAVEL P1T <br />An inspection of the Creede Banta gravel piton November 9, ?001 revealed that noxious <br />weeds existed along the access road and on approximately'/a acre of the pit. Specitically, <br />that portion of the pit that contains top soil. The noxious weed found at these locations <br />was Canada thistle. <br />Control of noxious weeds is of utmost concern at this site in order to reduce the chances <br />of seed being dispersed from this site to surrounding lands. The follotiving steps should be <br />taken in order to eliminate this infestation: <br />1. Canada thistle infestation along [he access road and a[ [he pi[ should be [reared <br />each year. <br />2. Infestation should be sprayed with appropriate herbicide, such as Curtail. This <br />may be purchased a[ Scholl Chemical in Nlonte Vista or at COOP in Monte. <br />3. Plants should be sprayed prior to seed set. The best time is between June 1~ and <br />July 1 depending upon stave of development. <br />4. It is important to soak each individual plant completely. A light pass over the <br />plant will not suffice. <br />~. Es[imated time to treat these areas is r. day for one person. This is assuming that <br />coverage was adequate and it did not rain within 2~ hours af[er treatment. <br />6. A three gallon pump weed sprayer and protective clothing and gloves is all that is <br />required. <br />Curtail is an over the counter herbicide and does not require a Certified Applicators <br />license. <br />
