1
(Page 31 •
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-81-021
INSPECTION DATE 07/10/97 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
Related to this topic is the stormwater management on the site. The operator has constructed a berm along the edge of the top
of the dump pad to control runoff, and a berm around the toe of the dump slope, for runoff and sediment control. The file contains
brief stormwater control practice descriptions, and evidence that a stormwater permit (SWMP) has been issued for this and the
operator's other nearby MLRB permits. The operator should note that the Water Quality Control Division, who issues such SWMPs,
requires that information pertinent to all fuel storage locations must be properly included in the SWMP documents; the current
operator should verify that such information has, in fact, been provided to WQCD. That office's address is shown below, if the
operator wishes to contact them, and because a copy of this report is being sent there.
Topsoil was observed in a stockpile at tha~ toe of the west end of the dump. It appeared stable in its present location, but could
be adversely impacted if further waste rot:k is to be dumped on the dump slope above it. The operator should ensure that this
resource is not deteriorated by covering it with waste rock or allowing runoff from the slope above it to erode it.
The east end of the dump pad has been extended beyond the shape of the dump shown in the detailed early maps. A short length
of the toe of the dump slope has reached the location of the ephemeral drainage, which could have downstream effects during a
significant storm event (topographic maps show an area of up to 25 acres draining to this pointl. If the waste dump toe must be
moved to protect the channel, structures ,nstalled or the channel itself realigned there and below, the operator should show the
locations on the map which is required to be submitted.
There were no other items noted or discussed during the inspection.
