ORIGINAL - POBLIC FILE (Page 2) MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn-tv~~_t s~ INSPECTION DATE: '~-t ~_n~ INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: inn OBSERVATIONS This inspection was completed in response to a request by Albert Frei 8 Sons, Inc. to be -eleased from the Bnancial warranty (reclamation responsibility) for Reclamation Pit No. 1 also known as Hazeltine Pit. The South Adams County Water and Sanitation District and the Board of Water Commissioners of the City and improvements (complete reclamation to the requirements of the permit) at this time as they will either be modified or replaced with more permanent facilities which will be Installed by Denver Water and South Adams Division of Minerals and Geoloav and the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board may be released from any further reclamation responsibilities or requirements pertaining to Permit Number M-77-153. As owners of the property Denver Water and South Adams agree that the bond or other financial commitment now maintained by the Division of Minerals and Geoloav may be returned to Albert Frei & Sons. Inc." The only reclamation completed at the time of the inspection was sloping of the south bank and some additional sloping of the northwest pit bank A complete insaecflon was not made. Only the reclamation was observed from the east end of the pit The final land use stated in the permit is Water Storage Reservoir . Most of the earthwork necessary to construct the reservoir has not been completed and none of the revegetation work has been started The Division will deny the request for release from the Bnancial warranty. The bond was last reviewed as part of a March 19 2002 inspection by the Division . The S40 800.00 bond was determined to be adequate at that time However an additional reclamation cost is now evident. The pit has been allowed to fill with around water The additional reclamation cost is the cost to dewater the pit to accommodate arading and other earthwork necessary to construct the reservoir. The operator must either provide to the Division the reclamation cost to dewater the pit so that the Bnancial warranty regulrement can be reviewed or the pit must be dewatered so that the additional reclamation cost is eliminated.
