(Page 2) <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2(U]'~-] (L- <br />INSPECTION DATE: 1Ll/l.GlLL"t INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: -9.f1~L <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />This was a normal monitoring inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG along with Clarence Stevenson of <br />Baca County. The site is located approximately IS miles north of Pritchett, Colorado in gently rolling rangeland <br />typical fo Eastern Colorado. The pit is situated along the side-slope of a small rise and generally runs from the <br />ridgeline to the toe of the slope. This site was a previously permitted site that was reclaimed and released and <br />then re-opened earlier this year. The site was being actively mined during this inspection by primary screening <br />the in-situ material down fo a road base type material with the oversize being stockpiled for other uses. <br />The boundaries were clearly marked but the identification sign still contained the old permit number and needs <br />to be updated. Also, the operator needs to do a betterjob of salvaging and stockpiling topsoil. Presently, the <br />topsoil is being dozed up in advance of the mine slope advancement. When the mining reaches the point <br />where the topsoil is windrowed, the stockpile is simply dozed a little further. This is causing the continuous re- <br />handling of topsoil. Instead, the material should be removed and stockpiled along the north and east <br />boundaries where it can then simply be bladed out over the reclaimed slope at the termination of mining. An <br />alternative to this would be to salvage the material and replace in immediately on a re-graded area that will <br />not be re-disturbed and is ready for final reclpmation. This will prevent the multiple handling of the material <br />pnd the loss of any material as the mining front advances into stockpiled topsoil. <br />The permit identification sign will be cited as a problem on page three of this report along with corrective <br />actions.
