General Comments
The Fruita mines have not been operating for several months, and were not operating
at the time of this inspection. As requested by Brian Munson in the previous inspection
report, Darrel Nespe sent a letter to the Division, dated July 29, 2981, detailing
the status of the operations at Fruita. Dorchester is planning to submit an application
to the Division in the near future which will encompass the mining of their newly
acquired Federal coal leases. Dorchester has requested that their current Permit
No. 79-60 remain valid during the interim to a21ow for periodic sampling and sale of
coal from existing stockpiles. Dorchester does not anticipate that mining .will resume
for quite some time.
