MAY-11-2005 WED 02;03 PM dept of int FAX N0, 3038441545 P. 07
BT1J Emlaire, Eage S Mine. pg. 3
rust north of the first sinkhole noted above we estimated ourselves to be above and
between the 3rd west, and right mains of the Eagle Mines at N 40 26 02 W 107 39 10
at 6,330 fr.; a small trough /sinkhole noted at N 40 26 02 W 107 39 11 al 6, 333 ft.;
similaz features are found scattered at 200 to 500 feet north to northwest of the tower;
a northeast facing slope with sandstone outcropping had a surface, sandstone outcrop
crack 5 to 7 inches wide at N 40 26 02 W 107 39 10. These fearirres described above all
appear to be located on BTU Empire surface ]and ownership.
This area described above, generally north and west of the tower location out to downhill
slope breaks, needs to be evaluated for possihle.remediation of slip & fall hazards
associated with these small openings. Disturbing active animal burrows should be
avoided to the extant possible, unless they represent a serious slip and fall hazard.
These openings have created excellent habitat for badger sized mammals and smaller.
We continued to inspect downhill west, and southwest of the tower location looking for
subsidence features. Land ownership here includes BTU Empire, State of Colorado, and
Mr. Barker, Steel casing from presumably an abandoned monitoring well was located at
N 40 26 06 W 107 39 16 at 6,277 :Ct. The casino appears to be sealed at 14.5 feet below
ground level. USOS-1918 (or 1908) section corner at N 40 26 06 W 106 39 16 at
6,287 ft. with EPP Associates Survey markers froth recent (2-3 years) surveys.
We observed a small sinkhole 2 to 3 feat deep aC this location, which could be associated
with a former exploration drill pad, and this location is just downhill and southwest of the
EPP survey markers. We inspected the remainder of this area and saw no really obvious
surface subsidence features.
We attempted to reach additional affected areas west of the Yampa River. on the
afternoon of November 18, but decided to wait until the next morning due to time of day.
This concluded the inspection on Novembor 18.
On November 19 we inspected the affected surface azeas above Eagle 5 & SA Mines
proposed for. release, West of the Yampa River. We were able to drive onto and through
Mr. Barker's property, and made slogs and observations at the following (in order
observed):
North end of affected area between 2"d west mains, and 1~ north at N 40 26 275
W 107 39 985 at 6,517 ft.. We walked this area in orientation above the mine workings
looldng for subsidence features. We found no obvious surface subsidence features here.
