Box 511, Aguilar, Colorado 81020
County: Huerfano
Inspection Date: August 14, 1484
Type of Operation: Surface, private
Inspector: Susan Mowry
Weather: Sunny, warm
Time: p.m.
Type of Inspection: Complete
Operator Contact: Larry King
I. General Comments
The operator should submit a Notice of Temporary Cessation of Operations in
accordance with Rule 4.30 since the mine has been shut down for approximately
30 days.
Topsoil and subsoil stockpiles must be marked, seeded and mulched this fall.
Water samples had been taken during a runoff event prior to the inspection.
These samples were being kept in the refrigerator at the mine office. The
samples should be transported to the lab as soon as possible.
The collection ditches around the soil and overburden stockpiles must be
maintained. These ditches filled in with sediment then breached. Some soil
and overburden materials were washed onto areas below the piles. No runoff
left the permit area. This item was noted as a maintenance concern last
month. Failure to maintain the ditches in a timely manner resulted in their
breaching. NOV C-84-157 has been issued for failure to maintain the ditches.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. (30~) 866-3567
