Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: ~~-~nn~~p? _
INSPECTION DATE: _~Aarch ~~~nnd INSPECTORd INITIALS: ~41w
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG. Rex Angelovich, who is the contractor/operator for
the permittee, was contacted but was not present during the inspection. The site is located approximately 4
miles east of I-25 and 10 miles north of Walsenburg, Colorado in Huerfano County. The pit is situated on the
north side and adjacent to, but up out of, a small ephemeral drainage. The surrounding area is typical short-
grass prairie common to Eastern Colorado.
There is an identification sign near the entrance to the site, however, the sign is constantly off of its post. The
operator needs to install a more permanent identification sign so this is being cited as a problem on page three
of this report along with corrective actions. The permit boundaries are clearly marked with Tee-Posts and the
present disturbance is well within these boundaries. The disturbance has not increased much since the site was
first permitted and little to no product was stockpiled on site.
Topsoil salvage needs to be better managed on this site than the current arrangement of rolling the topsoil
back from the top of the highwall in advance of extraction. The approved mining plan states that the material
will be removed from fhe top of the advancing highwall and stockpiled along fhe north and west permif
boundaries. Alternatively, the topsoil could be placed on a re-graded area that is ready for final reclamation, if
one is available. The pertinent sections from the permit application pre attached to this report to describe how
the topsoil is to be removed and where it will be stockpiled.
This concluded the inspection.
1 & E Contact Address I' OTHER
NAME: Steve Melvick
OPERATOR: Stone Cliff Investments.
