lll. COMMENTS-COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the inspection.
Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the
enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Seneca II Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of DMG. No company
representative was present during the inspection. The Seneca II Mine status is active. The Wadge
and Wolf Creek Pits are open, and reclamation has started in the Wolf Creek Pit. The inspection
involved viewing two aerial photographs taken by Harry Ranney on April 27, 1998. Weather and
ground conditions on site appeared clear and dry.
Backfilling & Grading The upper portion of the Wolf Creek Pit is currently being reclaimed. The spoil
piles to the east of the Wolf Creek pit have been pushed into the bottom of the pit. The northern
portion of the highwall has also been blasted to blend in with the reclaimed area. Above the Wolf
Creek road crossing, a majority of the backfilling and grading work is complete. Below the road
crossing, spoil grading has just begun, and the highwall remains intact. The grading could not be
assessed for approximate original contour (AOC) at this point in time.
