A site inspection was made of the Cecil 2 Gravel Pit as part of the Division's on-going <br />4-year inspection program. The Cecil 2 Pit is located 3 miles east and 1 mile north of <br />Cope. There was no one present during the inspection. <br />2. The Cecil Pit is permitted for 9.9 acres. The site will be reclaimed to agricultural <br />land. The operator has posted a financial warranty of $7,500. <br />3. It appears that mining is nearly completed at the Cecil 2 Gravel Pit and that all <br />disturbances were found to be within the permit area. Mining has occurred with the channel <br />of the Arickaree River. There is also a small cut into a hillside near the entrance to <br />the pit. The cut is approximately 100 feet long and averages 6 feet high. It is unknown <br />whether this cut was made by the mining operator or by the landowner to secure materials <br />for improving his property. Reclamation will include minor grading and revegetation of <br />the banks of the Arickaree River. The operator will not be responsible for backfill & <br />grading, topsoiling, and revegetation of the small cut mentioned above if written <br />verification can be provided that the disturbance was created by the landowner for <br />purposes other than mining. This inspector verifies that the existing financial warranty <br />is more than adequate to complete the terms of the reclamation plan for the disturbances <br />noted. <br />9.
