'~~
COMMENTS-COMPLIANCE /~~ ~-Q/-~~~
I/~lwy D I ~d~
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the GEC mine conducted by Jim Stark of CDMG. The
bond for this site has been forfeited and reclamation was completed by DMG. The
weather was hot and sunny and the ground was dry.
The access road to the East and West Pit areas was a little rutted but in overall good
condition. The East Pit drainage was in good shape. The riprap that was placed in
the two gullies below the road and the top of the drainage appears to be stable and
is beginning to fill in with sediment. According to AI Weaver of the Southfield Mine,
the area received four days of continuous precipitation in the form of both rain and
snow. Although there was a good deal of runoff, both pit areas are in good
condition. Both the East and West Pit areas seemed to be well vegetated and in
good shape. The precipitation has helped the vegetation tremendously. The cattle
that were grazing at the East and West Pit areas have been moved out.
The Orphan Pit, Tipple and Duck Pond areas were appeared to be well vegetated
and in good condition. The road to these areas is the Corley Mountain Ranch Road.
This rood is well maintained and in good condition.
Chen's Hill has some gullying but appears to be well vegetated and stable.
