.;
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
jumped across in most locations. No subsidence features (e.g. cracks, rock-falls, or areas of settling or ponding)
were observed along the stream channels, banks, or adjacent slopes in the vicinity of the confluence.
Other hydrologic features within or immediately adjacent to the South Portals portion of the permit area include
25 springs that were identified during baseline studies in the Rapid Creek Basin, and Cabin Reservoir, located
adjacent to the Southeast corner of the permit area. None of the springs were undermined and all were outside
of the area of potential subsidence effects. Cabin Reservoir is approximately 2 miles from the nearest mine
workings, well beyond the zone of potential subsidence effects. Due to the absence of potential subsidence
impacts to these features, neither the springs nor Cabin Reservoir were visited during the liability release
inspection.
Insoection Summa
Afield inspection of man-made structures and hydrologic features in the proposed liability release area, within
zones potentially subject to mine subsidence effects, was conducted. The inspection revealed no apparent
subsidence related damage. Further, no concerns related to possible subsidence damage within the release
area were brought to the Division's attention in response to surface owner notifications issued in association with
the proposed liability release.
