to SE through the property. Because more permitted area lies on the SW side of the ditch,
and the setback from the ditch is for both sides of it, this creates a 400-foot wide strip
of unpermitted land. The operator now recognizes that the establishment of the new 112
boundaries with the deep setbacks has made a significant number of acres unavailable for
mining. He stated during the inspection he would be interested in exploring the feasibility
of a "land exchange". There is a brief list of conditions which must be met or agreed to for
this to be an option available to the operator. This list is enclosed for the operator to
review. Please contact this inspector to discuss it!
There is a bond of $1700 for this operation, which was calculated at the time of permit
conversion. The bond is to cover the costs of earthwork grading. Though no problem is noted
for the existing steep highwalls or irregular pit floor, the reclamation costs wil be
recalculated soon to verify that the State holds enough bond for the present amount of
unreclaimed disturbance. The operator may greatly influence the total bond required by
performing reclamation in a timely manner, and fully reporting all tasks accomplished.
