a- r``
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID#: M-1977-493 PAGE: 3
INSPECTION DATE: 3-29-~A~9" INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ACS
~~
The 9.95 acres proposed for deletion from the area of affected land through the
approval of revision AR-O1 were inspected. This parcel of land is located on the
hillside below (northwest of) the pond shop, and above a pipeline corridor that runs
north from the right abutment of 3-Dam to the upper edge of Mayflower Pond. This
parcel is heavily treed with spruce and fir, and based on observations made during
this inspection, and review of the aerial photo provided in the AM-04 application,
this parcel has not been disturbed by operations at the Climax Mine. Accordingly,
this parcel can be deleted from the area of affected lands as requested by Climax in
the revision AR-O1 application.
The final area of affected lands involved in the applications for AR-01 and AM-04 is
the portion of the Mayflower borrow pit that was inadvertently left out of AM-03 in
1997. The Mayflower borrow pit was not inspected during this site visit. The reader
of this report is referred to the Division's 4/26/00 inspection report for a
description of observations made at the Mayflower borrow pit.
Based on observations made during this inspection and review of the AR-Ol and AM-04
applications, and based on the fact that no adverse comments were received during the
public comment period for AM-04, the Division is grocessing approval of both permit
modifications. Approval letters will be sent under separate cover. The approval
letter for AM-04 will include clarification of the permit acreage and affected land
acreage. This is because some conflicting information relative to AM-03 (approved
in 1997) and the AM-04 application was detected during the Division's review. Also,
the permit modification to add in the 9.75 acres of affected land was referred to as
TR-12 in the application provided by Climax, but has been coded into the Division's
database as AM-04. Based on this numbering system, the next technical revision to
the Climax permit will be TR-12, and if any future amendment is filed by Climax, it
will be AM-O5.
cc: Carl Mount, DMG
I & E Contact Address
NAME Bryce Romia
OPERATOR Climax Molybdenum Comnanv
STREET Climax Mine
CITY/STATElZIP Climax, CO 80429
