(Page 2)
MINE ID N OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1990-059
INSPECTION DATE 9/15/00
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS WHE
This inspection occurred in accordance with DMG routine monitoring program for permitted
operations. The Eldorado Pilot is a 11011) type permit, approved for 0.11 acres affected area. The
permit area is located approximately 9 miles SW of Ouray, in Yankee Boy Basin, in portions of the
SE '/. of the NW '/. of Section 17, T43N, R8W, NMPM, Ouray County. No mining and/or
reclamation activities were observed, no mine personnel were contacted during the time of this
inspection. The operator has commenced reclamation of the site. DMG holds 51,000 financial
warranty.
The permit area is located in an area heavily utilized by the public for recreational purposes.
Numerous 4x4 and recreational vehicles were encountered on the Yankee Boy Basin road (FR
853.1 B). Hikers were observed in the areas surrounding the permit area. Vehicle access to the
permit area is discouraged by a temporary cable and log barrier across the access road. One
recreational vehicle was parked adjacent to the temporary barrier.
Recently completed reclamation activities include partial closure of the portal and backfill of the
portal cut, redistribution of available topsoil, and application of a revegetation seed mix. Backfill
material, previously placed in the portal, has settled sufficient to re-open the upper portions of the
portal. Additional backfilling of the portal and portal cut is necessary to ensure that unauthorized
persons not enter into the underground workings. Evidence of portal discharge was not observed.
Waste rock resulting from the permitted operation had been pulled upslope from the wetlands area
and utilized as backfill for the portal and portal cut. Vegetative cover for reclaimed area was
becoming established. Affected lands appeared stable, evidence of slumping, slope movement or
excessive erosion was not observed.
Financial Warranty DMG has estimated the current cost of reclamation totaling at 5952.
Therefore, the existing 51,000 financial warranty is sufficient to ensure reclamation.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to the Division of Minerals and Geology, 701
Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Wally Erickson, phone no. 970-247-
5469.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
Gil Moser
Gil Moser
817 N.
