(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn_tgg~i ~n
INSPECTION DATE: ~i/~ SJOf• INSPECTOR S INITIALS: ~Al? .
OBSERVATIONS
1. This inspection was conducted by the Division of Minerals and Geology's as parl of its monitoring
program for Hard Rock and Metals 1 l0(2) permits. Present at the inspection were Kate Pickford, DMG,
and Carl Dismant, Bachelor Silver Mines Co. Weather at the time of the inspection was clear, calm, and
approximately 75 degrees.
2. A sign is posted at the entrance to the site and the boundaries are marked. Activity at the site remains
the same as during the last inspection and all appears To be contained within the permit boundary.
3. The site is used as a tourist mine and tourist related activity was occurring at the time of this inspection.
The portal is opened and accessed on a regular basis via a train on the track entering the mine. The
remainder of the surface disturbance relates mainly to the tourist activity at the site, including a parking
area, concession area, gift shop, and blacksmith shop.
4. A drainage conveys dischorge from the portal off the site. This drainage is also used as a panning area
for Tourists. The operator has approval for discharge from this drainage. Along the southern portions of
the drainage there is a fairly healthy population of Canada Thistle (See Problem 1, Page 3). Presence of
this noxious weed was also noted in the previous inspection report for this site. The operator indicated in
January of 2004 that weeds are being controlled at the site by way of hand removal. The operator
expressed concern over controlling these weeds with herbicide due to their close proximity to the water
in the drainage. Staff is also aware that herbicide can be used in this type of situation if care is taken to
place a barrier between the plants being sprayetl and the water during weed control activities. Staff
has indicated thot the operator may choose what method to incorporate, but the current method of
weed control does not appear to be successfully controlling the problem.
5. A bond recalculation was conducted as a part of this inspection. The new bond amount is $7,283.00,
$1,027.00 more than the current bond of $6,256.00. Please submit the additional bond amount within 60
days of receipt of this report.
18 E Contact Address
NAME: Corl F.
