III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Meeker Area Mines conducted by Erica Crosby of DMG.
The inspection involved viewing two aerial photographs taken by Harry Ranney of DMG on
9/28/96. The status of the mine is reclamation only. Weather and ground conditions appeared
dry.
Roads Road leading to the Northern Mine appeared to be in good condition.
Hydrologic Balance The sediment pond located at the Northern Mine contained water. The
sediment ponds located at Rineau also contained some water. Evidence of discharge could not
be seen in the aerial photographs.
Backfilling & Grading The backfilled slopes appeared stable at the Northern Mine and at the
Rineau Mine. No evidence of gullies or stability problems were noted.
Revegetation Vegetation at the Rineau and Northern Mines looks good and blends in well with
the surrounding topography.
