III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was complete inspection conducted by Janet Binns of the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology. The mine is reclaimed, with no facilities and no personnel remaining on site. The mine was an
underground mine. The mine site was free of snow and temperature were warm and windy.
Hydrologic Balance: The pond is damp with no standing water. The permanent drainage on the north
west side of the permit azea is in good repair with no side cutting or undercutting. Runoff is flowing as
designed through drainages and road Swale.
Slides: No new rockfall was observed on the reclaimed mine bench or backfilled outslope. Loose
material from natural slope above the ramp to the bench has sloughed off and deposited on the west side
of the ramp.
Records: Mine records were checked at the Routt County Courthouse. Mine records are kept in the vault
in the Routt County Clerk and Recorder's office. Recent submittals have been placed in the back pocket
of the permit 3-ring binder. Availability of records form is attached to this report.
Veeetation: DMG representative observed 2 sheep on mine site on April 13, 2001 when in the area. No
sheep were currently on the site. Inspection of the vegetation on April 17, 2001, found only minimal
grazing had occurred on the reclaimed portal bench area. No sign of grazing was observed in the yard
area. Brome grass and Orchardgrass are beginning to green up at the crowns. The fence alongside Routt
County Road No. 39 is completely down. Fence posts remain but all wires were laying on the ground. A
small patch of Whitetop was noted approx. 40 ft. west of the N W corner or the Office building. Marmots
were noted on the site.
Page _3_ of _4_ Pages, (date) _04/20/01 , (initials)
