(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1992-007
INSPECTION DATE 07/1412006
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS DEG
This routine monitoring inspection of Permit Number M-1992-007 (Tuttle Pit #1) was conducted by Deb E. G6nima of the DMG.
Moffat County representative Marvin Moore was present during this inspection. The pit is located approximately 2 miles west of
Elk Springs on County Road 14, and currently consists of approximately 20 acres where approximately 10 acres have been
disturbed.
Mine entrance signs and permit boundary markers are all in place, and topsoil stockpiles are all well-marked. All activities and
completed work at the time of inspection appeared to follow the guidelines and regulations set forth by the state and the mining
and reclamation plans for the pit, and no problems are noted for this site. The site is stable and no disturbance was observed
outside of the approved permit boundaries. For future reference, this site is correctly positioned in the DMG online GIS.
The large material stockpile is situated near the northeastern portion of the site (see photo 1). The majority of the site is still
active, and no reclamation has begun. The mined area is in the shape of shill-side cut and is traveling northeast to southwest
across the site (see photo 2).
Well-marked topsoil stockpiles are located along the northeastern permit boundary (see photo 3). At the time of this inspection
there was no equipment on site. The majority of the undisturbed area lies at the south and southwestern portion of the site. The
landowner has requested that the operator leave the harvested pinon-juniper at the eastern portion of the site for firewood (see
photo 4). The operator must submit written verification of this agreement between the landowner and the operator to the
Division.
A storm water runoff control program was implemented a few years back and seems to have been successful in its use of
diversion structures, sediment traps, and small ponding areas along the eastern portion of the site. There appears to be no
offsite erosion, and no long-term (greater than 72 hours) water retention was observed.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Deb E. Gdnima at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Denver
Office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203, phone number 303-866-4179.
I & E Contact Address
cc:
^ CE
NAME Mr. Marvin Moore ^ BL
OPERATOR Moffat County ^ FS
STREET 1570 Ranney Street ^ I.{yy
CITY/STATE/ZIP Craig.
