III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the North Thompson Creek Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of
DMG. No company representative was present during the inspection. The North Thompson
Creek Mine is in reclamation only status. The inspection involved viewing four aerial
photographs taken by Harry Ranney of DMG on August 12, 1997.
Roads Access road appeared to be in good repair.
Hydrologic. Balance The long pond and treatment ponds contained water. The long pond
contained more iron rich deposits at the inlet of the pond. The water at the lower end of the
long pond was clear. Water from treatment ponds T-1 and T-2 appeared clear. The sediment
pond also contained water. All pond embankments appeared to be stable and well vegetated.
Backfilling & Gradino The backfilled and graded areas adjacent to the ponds and haul road
appeared stable and well vegetated. No major erosion features were noted on the reclaimed
portions of the mine site.
Revegetation Vegetation appears to be well established at the mine site. Numerous shrubs could
be depicted in the photos.
