III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of DRMS. No one else was present
during the inspection. Snow has melted from most of the site. A photograph taken during the
inspection is attached. The gate into the site was open. A bazbed wire fence is being constructed next
to the county road, between the road and the site's entrance gate.
Records Availability
Records were checked at the Gazfield County courthouse (see attached checklist). All required records
were on file, with the exception of an annual hydrology report. The requirement for the Eastside Mine
to have an annual hydrology report on file is being researched.
Signs and Markers
The required information was displayed on the mine i.d. sign at the entrance gate on Harvey Gap Road.
Hvdrolo¢ic Balance
The sediment control pond was reclaimed several years ago. Surface water is monitored upstream and
downstream from the disturbed azea at monitoring sites maintained by parties not related to the mine.
Backfill and Grading
The backfill slope in the former portal azea appeared stable.
General Mine Plan Compliance
No problems were found on the site.
Reveeetation
The site has a diverse cover of grasses, fortis, and woody shrubs.
Reclamation Success
No erosion or slope instability problems were found on the site.
3
