~~
Mr. Thomas E. Brubaker -2- ~ September 15, 1982
In all other regards, I feel that your annual report of February 5, 1982 has
brought the status of this operation up to date. Your idea of reducing the
size of the maps for annual reports to make them more manageable is, in my
opinion, a good one.
Wiley Pit
Your annual report for this operation speaks to my inspection report of
November 11, 1982 (copy enclosed) with the exception of recormnendation no. 3.
Again, Z feel that the existing bond on this site is too low, especially
considering the intensity of the disturbance and the depth of the pit. Grading
costs to reduce the slopes would be very high here. The costs for respreading
overburden/topsoil would also be high. Please submit new reclamation cost
calculations for either the existing or the maximum planned disturbance. I
will plan to schedule this bond revision for the November 17-18, 1982 Board
meeting, as well.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions about this letter. I
will expect to hear from you in the near future.
Sincerely,
Mark S. Loye
Senior Reclamation Specialist
MSL:ys
Enclosures
