(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1984-103
INSPECTION DATE 7-18-2003
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted as part of DMG's ongoing monitoring program for permitted mines in
Colorado.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12.
No significant infestations of noxious or other problematic weeds were noted on site during this inspection.
No significant erosional features were noted on the affected areas of the site.
Vegetation on regraded slopes is doing very well. Lodgepole pine ranging in height from 1 to 10 feet are established on the pit
slopes and in the area designated as the previous mining area . There are several varieties of grasses and wildflowers
established on these areas as well.
The plant and stockpile area and access road are the only affected areas that are not currently reclaimed. These areas have
stockpiles of soil, rocks, gravel, sand and manure. There are also piles of highway maintenance materials such as guard rail,
marker posts, culvert pipe, old asphalt, a couple of travel trailers and a storage trailer stored on site.
The grounds around the site appear to have had horse manure spread all over them. This is assumed to bean effort to fertilize
the site and add organics to the otherwise fairly rocky and nutrient deficient soil. This practice is acceptable. However, the
operator is cautioned to watch for weed infestation from seed that may be spread across the site in the manure. It is
recommended that any manure to be applied be composted first to sterilize any weed seed.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3'tl Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number 970-243-6368.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
Eric Prieve
Colorado Department of Transportation
4340 East Louisiana Avenue
Denver, Colorado 80222
cc:
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WOCD (CHI
^ OTHER
