~tCEIVED <br />ryyy ROCKY MOUNTAIN <br />g,,. ,,, ,,,,,,araf~~Geology MATERIALS fi ASPHALT, INC. <br />1910 Rand Avenue <br />Colorado Springs, CO 80906 <br />September 14, 1999 <br />Mr. James Dillie <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology <br />Re: "Red Canyon Quarry" Sediment Pond <br />Mr. Dillie, <br />IIIlIIIIIIIIIIIIIII <br />The following is the Evaluation Report outlining the analysis of <br />the storm flow volume and sediment pond volume at Red Canyon <br />Quarry. <br />Introduction <br />As the result of an on site inspection, June 04, 1999, Red Canyon <br />L.L.C., has evaluated the Red Canyon Quarry watershed and <br />detention pond regarding the adequate capacity of the pond during <br />a 2-yr/24-hr precipitation event. <br />Evaluation <br />The evaluation consists of applying the storm flow volume to that <br />of the detention pond volume. The run-off quantity was estimated <br />by using the following factors: <br />-Mined Area = 805,OOOsf (18.48 acres) <br />-Isopuvials of 2-yr/24-hr precipitation = 1.6 inch <br />-Abstractions <br />Interception = 0.15 inch <br />Depression Storage = 0.6 inch <br />Infiltration = 0.6 inch <br />The detention pond which is categorized as a "dry pond", and was <br />constructed as such, has an estimated holding capacity of <br />22,353cf (167,210 gal). <br />Phone 473-3100 • Fax <br />
