A site inspection was made of the Pueblo East Pit in response to a recent succession of
operator's from VALCO, Inc. to Transit Mix of Pueblo, Inc.
2. The Pueblo East Pit is permitted for 72.3 acres of disturbance. The post-mining land use
is private recreation and waterfowl habitat. The successor operator has submitted a
financial warranty of $30,850.00 in anticipation of future disturbance.
3. There appears to be only 1 acre currently disturbed. There is an adjacent processing
plant and industrial complex which is outside of the permit area, according to Mr. klune.
The financial warranty currently required is $1,500 rather than $30,850. The operator should
consult the Division if a change in the financial warranty is desired.
3. The Pueblo East Pit is currently inactive and appears to have been so since 1987. The
Division therefore requests that the operator file a notice of temporary cessation in order
to bring the permit into compliance with the requirements of Rule 1.13.5 of the Construction
Materials Rules & Regulations. Please see page 3 for details.
I ~ E Contact Address
NAME Mark Klune
OPERATOR Transit Mix of Pueblo.
