~r FOUR CORNERS MATERIALS
A division of Oldcastle SW Group, Inc.
11 July 2006
Ms. Kate Pickford
Environmental Protection Specialist
f~,Colorado Division of Minerals & Geology
-~`~ 701 Camino de] Rio, Room 125
Durango, Colorado 81301
Re: High Flume Gravel Pit (M-1990-093)
Dear Ms. Pickford,
Received'
~/JUL 1 1 2006
burango Field Ol§oe
DNIsIon of Minerals & Geology
This letter is written in response to issues raised in your letter to Mr. Dale Trenkle dated July 10,
2006, and the Inspection Repott that letter referenced.
During the Inspection of the High Flume Gravel Pit, conducted on 14 December 2005, we
observed that no "new" material has been mined from the site since prior to December 2002.
However, during 2006, we have been successful in selling a portion of the road base previously
stockpiled on the site.
Construction Materials Rule 1, Section 1.13.2 -Indications of Temporary Cessation, includes the
following item:
(5) there is no sale or processing of material or movement of stockpiled material;
We believe that the ongoing sale of stockpiled material from the High Flume Gravel Pit is
sufficient to qualify the operation as active. Thus, no Notice of Temporary Cessation will be
filed with the Division in the immediate future.
Please accept my apology for my failure to submit this information within the timeframe allotted
by Corrective Action 1 of the Inspection Report. If any additional information is required in
order to address this issue, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Marcia L.
