• (Page 2)
MINE ID !t OR PROSPECTING ID q M-1990-114
INSPECTION DATE 11-22-2000 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a brief partial inspection conducted as follow-up to weed problems noted in the previous inspection report and
to evaluate if spring seeding of the topsoil stockpiles was showing any success..
The latest annual report for this pit, received on October 25, 2000 states that weed control was performed by Chaffee
County under co ttract to Saguache County. It is not expected that weed control spaying would control the problem the
first year of application. The site still has a significant weed component and will require continued weed control
applications. Saguache County will need to submit a copy of the weed control measures performed by Chaffee County,
including the am~~unt and type of herbicide used. Additionally, a plan for future weed control should be submitted. The
weed problem wtis noted in a previous inspection report, so it is not listed as a problem in this report. However, Saguache
County is reminded that the correction due date for this problem was is set for 12-31-2000. The above specified weed
control information must be submitted by that date to correct this problem.
The mine identification sign noted in the previous report was no longer located at the site. A replacement sign must be
reinstalled at the access to the site.
Erosion described in previous inspection reports didn't appear to have gotten any worse and is still contained within the
pit areas, on pit slopes that are not yet topsoiled or in their final reclamation configuration. Therefore, this erosion is not
considered to be 3 problem.
Noland Gulch appears to be stable and does not appear to be adversely affected by the mining operation.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division's Durango Field Office. The address
is; Division of Mine~als and Geology, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, phone no. 970-247-5062.
1 & E Contact Address cc: Tom Gillis, DMG
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
John Unaefua
Saguache County
P.
