MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-98-104
INSPECTION-DATE 01/15/99
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
This was a pre-operation inspection of the Pine Ridge Pit conducted kiy Erica Crosby of the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. Chuck Murphy of ACA Products Inc. was present
during the inspection. Weather conditions on site were cool and windy. Ground conditions
were dry.
The operator of the site, ACA Products, Inc., filed a New 112 Permit Application for the site
on December 11, 1998. Filing of the new application was a result of the October 16, 1998
inspection and notice of violation MV-98-048 issued by the Mined Land Reclamation Board on
December 15, 1996. The New application would replace file M-B1-303 and increases the permit
area from 9.9 acres to 102.4 acres.
The mine site is located 6 34 miles southwest of Leadville. Amine sign was posted at the
mine entrance, identifying the filing of a new application. The permit boundary will expand
to the south and to the west. The permit boundary borders Lake County to the North, the U.S.
Department of Interior to the south and west and private property to the east. There are no
structures or features within 200 feet of the affected area. The Mt. Elbert Conduit Easement
Boundary is to the east of the mine, but beyond 200 feet of the affected area. If mining
disturbance is anticipated within 200 feet of the conduit easement, the operator will need
to meet the requirements of Rule 6.4.19 prior to any disturbance.
To date, the site consists of a working pit area, subsoil piles, topsoil piles and a working
area contaihing a crushing and screening facility. The pit is roughly 30 feet deep on the
south side. No mining activity was taking place during the inspection. No ground water was
noted in the pit, and the operator does not anticipate intersecting groundwater.
The application is currently under review, and the Division's decision due date is March 17,
1999.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Chuck Murnhv
OPERATOR ACA Products Inc.
STREET P.O.
