(Page 3)
~ MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID: #M-99-083
INSPECTION DATE: 5/8/00 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: JCS
The following problems (PB) and/or possible violations (PV) (and suggested corrective
actions) were identified during this inspection. The problems should be corrected by the
dates given, or they will become possible violations. The possible violations should be
corrected by the dates given to reduce their severity when considered by the Mined Land
Reclamation Board. The inspector noted on the previous page should be notified of all
corrective actions taken.
PROBLEMS/POSSIBLE VIOLATIONS
AND
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
CORRECTION
DATE
1) The ID sign for the pit does not meet the requirements 7/1/00
of Rule 3.1.12 (1).
PB or PV: PB
The County must post an ID sign for the pit that meets
the requirements of the applicable rule. Once done, the
Division should be provided with a picture of the sign. TOPIC(S): SM
2) The disturbed area slopes toward a small natural drainage CORRECTION
that leads offsite. There is little to prevent sediment DATE
from being carried from the disturbed area into the drainage 7/1/00
by storm runoff and, subsequently, outside the permit area.
PB or PV: PB
The County must make some effort to minimize this potential
disturbance to the prevailing hydrologic balance of the TOPIC(S): HB, SC
affected land and surrounding area as required by C.R.S.
34-32.5-116 (4) (h). Installation of a small berm, hay bales,
a silt fence, or a ditch with a catchment area between the
disturbed area and the drainage would serve in this regard.
Once done, the Division should be provided with written
notice.
3) The topsoil stockpiled onsite does not appear intended for CORRECTION
immediate use in reclamation. The stockpiles, however, do DATE
not appear to have been stabilized to prevent wind and/or 12/1/00
water erosion as required by C.R.S 34-32.5-116 (4) (g).
PB or PV: PB
The County must stabilize the stockpiled topsoil. If this is
to be done with vegetation, care should be taken that the TOPIC(S): TS
topsoil stockpiles are shaped accordingly. Once done, the
Division should be provided with written notice.
