<br />i ~- <br />(Page 21 <br /> <br />MINE ID q OR PROSPECTING ID p M-98-084 <br />INSPECTION DATE 12/16198 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS WHE <br /> <br />This pre-operations inspection occurred as part of DMG review process for the Whitewater Pit <br />permit application. Edward Settle, Grand Junction Pipe & Supply Company, accompanied the DMG <br />inspector throughout the inspection. The Whitewater Pit application describes a 112c type permit <br />for 32.2 acres affected area. Proposed permit area is located on the historic flood plains of the <br />Gunnison River. Mining operations had not commenced. <br />Signs & Markers Notice, required by Rule 1.6.2(111b1, was posted at the mine entrance. Prior <br />to commencement of mining operations, Rule 3.1.12 requires that the operator post and maintain <br />a mine identification sign and affected area perimeter markers. <br />Man Made Structures Observations made during the inspection indicate that all permanent man <br />made structures located on proposed affected lands and within 200' of affected lands have been <br />identified within the permit application. Application contains an engineering evaluation, as required <br />by Rule 6.4.191b-, for the structures located within 200'. <br />Existing Roads Operator clarified that the paving of Foster Lane will occur in accordance with <br />Mesa County Special Use permit, for dust abatement. <br />Vegetation Existing vegetative cover for proposed affected areas consisted of Downy brome, <br />Sage brush, Tamarisk, Halogeton, Rubber rabbitbush, Greasewood, Four wing saltbush, and <br />Russian thistle. <br />Financial Warranty DMG has reviewed the cost of reclamation and recommends that financial <br />warranty be set at 537,584. <br />Permit Approval <br />I & E Contact Address <br />NAME <br />OPERATOR <br />STREET <br />CITY/STATE/ZIP <br />DMG recommends approval of the permit application. <br />Edward J.
