Monks Pit #1. The site is permitted for 35 acres. <br />The post-mining land use is grazing and industrial development. The operator has submitted <br />a financial warranty of $18,450 in the form of a corporate surety. <br />2. The entrance sign and boundary markers were visible as required by Rule 3.1.12. <br />3. According to Mr. Newton this pit has not been mined in 4-5 years. Of the 35 acres <br />permitted, only a small portion has been disturbed. The operator uses this pit primarily as <br />a reserve, and mines there only on a limited basis. According to the annual reports <br />submitted by the operator, mining last occurred at the pit during 1987 when 3 acres were <br />disturbed. Therefore, as a result, the status of the pit is currently not in compliance with <br />the Rules & Regulations for Construction Materials, Rule 1.13. Please see attached copy of <br />Rule 1.13. Specific corrective actions are listed on page 3 of this report. <br />4. The operation includes processing facilities as well as a pit area. The operation <br />appeared to be in compliance with the mine plan and there were no noticeable problems. <br />5.
