Grading and topsoiling are completed in the
scraper pit A dozer was working on the slope above Pond 12. A small dozer was creating dozer
banns on the steep slope east of Pond 13 See picture on left below Four scrapers were spreading
topsoil on the recently graded areas of the Valora pit. According to Roy, over 70 acres have been
seeded so far at the Yoast Mine
I walked the drainage between Pond 11A and Pond 11 to observe repairs that Seneca has undertaken
this year Pond 11A was not discharging. Additional riprap has been placed in the the channel below
the Pond 11A discharge pipe. A number of rock check dams have been repaired/installed where
erosion occurred this spring. These rock check dams, combined with Pond 11A and continued
revegetation establishment above should help control further erosion rn the channel. The water level
in Pond 11 was several feet below the primary spillway
A number of thistle patches were observed along the banks of this drainage. Seneca plans to have a
weed spraying crew at Yoast soon and these patches need to be included ~n the weed control eNorts,
A drainage channel was recently completed and lined with riprap in the northern neck pit area on the
east side of the road. See picture on right below.
