Estimating the area of disturbance by pacing out
the boundaries of the flat area, (and multiplying by five; the upper= 9/5 were not
accessible and measurable, due to steep slopes and stockpiles blocking the area), it
appears that less than an acre has been disturbed. The flat area measured 68p by 33p,
with a 68p by 20' topsoil/overburden stockpile to the south of the flat area. Measured
acreage: 7090 SF (0.16 acres). Estimated total acreage: 0.81 acres. This area extends up
the hill for at least 70', and a better estimate of the acreage will hopefully be
forthcoming from aerial photos. Highwalls on both sides of the 98' wide trench which has
been excavated up the hill range in height from 7' at the top to 25' at tY.e bottom of the
hill. The trench itself has a slope of approximately 1H:1V down the hill, sloping down to
a grade of ~ to 1 near the bottom. A significant areage to the southwest cf the disturbed
area has not been disturbed.
4) The second two-acre area, approximately 800' down the road from the first, has been
disturbed, but has almost been reclaimed. The grading has been completed, the topsoil
replaced, and it currently has about SOo vegetative cover. It is estimated that only about
one acre was disturbed, maximum, when it was excavated.
5) The third one-acre area can not be found, and it is not certain thzit it was ever
excavated. If it was, it has now faded back into the surrounding landsca~~e to the point
where no disturbance is visible.
No other problems were noted during this inspection. A recalculation of the bend will be done
within 60 days, with the possibility o£ either partial acreage release or trade in order to
expand the current excavation area.
I & E Contact Address
NAME James R.
