III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the
inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or
evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This partial inspection of the Blue Flame Coal Mine was conducted by Wally Erickson
from the DMG Durango Office, 484 Turner Drive, Building F, Suite 101, Durango, CO
81301, phone (970) 247-5469. The permit for the Blue Flame Coal Mine was revoked
over 5 years ago. Financial warranty was forfeited and utilized for final reclamation.
No activities were observed, no personnel encountered during the time of this
inspection.
No change from the last inspection.
Mine identification sign was posted at the mine entrance. Mine entrance road has
remained to provide access to adjacent agricultural fields. Knapweed was established
on the access road.
Snow cover was limited to isolated sun shaded areas. Backfilled and graded areas
were well vegetated and stable, no evidence of slope failure, movement or excessive
erosion was observed. Reclamation vegetation was dense and diverse and appeared at
least equal to surrounding vegetation in extent of cover.
