(Page 31
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1981-185
INSPECTION DATE 9/4/02
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
for expansion to the NW, away from the side of the access road. This crosses another dry drainageway, and the operator
should plan where dumped materials will be placed to avoid sedimentation. The limit of the toe of the dump should be
defined le.g., barricaded?) to help contain it against future downhill migration when the mine is activated.
The access road to a third permitted block leaves this pad at a steep angle. Neither the road nor the third block were
inspected. There has been no activity there. There exist several pre-law wagon roads and burro trails in the area. The
operator indicated numerous instances of successful transplanted tree establishment. It is hoped that these will eventually
help stabilize and erase these old roads.
One final item is called to the operator's attention, regarding the long-range view of how long the mine has been and may
continue to be inactive. It is understood that metal mines react to a different economic climate than aggregate operations,
making the mining and reclamation schedules quite different. The operator should refer to Hard Rock and Metals Rule 1.13.
dealino with "temporary cessation."
There were no additional items observed or discussed. No problems exist at this time. All responses or questions about
this inspection report should be directed to this inspector at the Division's Durango Field Office.
