The operator was <br />contacted but was not present during the inspection. The site is located on the Rocky Flats Piedmont near the <br />guard shack for the Rocky Flats site. <br />The permit aoalication for this site was Qriginally~ooroved in 1987 but the finnncial warranty,"lac never pnafPd <br />due to some other legal matters with right of entry and such, so the permit was never issued. Recently the <br />applicant resolved their right of entry issue and approached the Division about posting the financial warranty <br />and getting the permit issued. Several issues surrounding the original approval of the permit application had to <br />be reviewed including changes to the original permit area. The permit area was two separate parcels divided <br />by a third parcel that is another permitted mine site (M-1979-045). The parcels were connected by an access <br />road and the distance between the parcels was approximately'/, of a mile. During the lapse between <br />application approval and request for permit issuance, the western most parcel was leased to and amended <br />into a third mine's permit area (M-1991-035, Bluestone Mine) with mining commencing on the northern end of <br />that parcel. Since that parcel is being mined under another lease and permit, as part of this request for permit <br />issuance, it was agreed that the parcel would be deleted from this permit via an acreage release request. <br />This inspection was conducted to confirm that the only mining that has occurred on the "west parcel" was <br />conducted by La Farge under their Bluestone Pit permit and financial warranty. The inspection confirmed that <br />this is in fact the case. Therefore, this acreage release request will be approved. Upon approval the request will <br />release 128.33 acres of the original 223.40 approved in 1987.
