i <br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection of the Eastside Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of DMG. No <br />company representative was present during the inspection. The Eastside Mine is in reclamation <br />only status. Weather conditions on site were overcast and warm. Ground conditions were dry. <br />Signs & Markers Mine ID sign was posted, and all information appeared accurate. <br />Hydrologic Balance The sediment pond was dry and no recent discharge was noted. The pond <br />embankment was well vegetated. The upland diversion ditch was mainly vegetated with annual <br />grasses and Russian Thistle. The ditch appeared functional. The permanent diversion ditch was <br />well vegetated in good repair. The rip-rap section from the lower end of the permanent diversion <br />to the natural drainage has not yet been installed. The operator has informed the Division that <br />this work will be completed this year. The mine water pipe was not discharging, and no recent <br />discharge was noted. <br />Backfilling & Grading The backfilled slopes are well vegetated with numerous grasses and small <br />shrubs. The reclaimed area shows no signs of erosion or stability concerns. <br />Revegetation This is the third reclamation growing season at the Eastside Mine. The <br />vegetated on the mine site is well established. Grasses and shrubs noted on site were Yellow <br />Sweet clover, Indian Ricegrass, Western Wheatgrass, Intermediate Wheat Grass, small shrubs, <br />Smooth Brome, Cheatgrass, Alfalfa and Cicer Milkvetch. The operator may execute a Phase II <br />bond release this year. <br />
