LAFARGE
NORTH AMERICA
Construction Materials
Verb to the DMG that the surface water and groundwater have not been impacted or
polluted as a result of the non-cured concrete placed in the pit/pond. The operator will
need to collect a water sample from the Reichert Pit, upstream, downstream and in an
existing well and analyzed for concrete elements.
Response: On April 1, 2005, Lafarge collected four water samples as specified in the
inspection report as follows, upstream of the property, downstream of the property, the Reichert
lake (well), and in addition at the open pond on the Reichert property. The samples were sent to
SGS Laboratories for independent third party testing and analyzed for dissolved aluminum and
selenium as specified using EPA method 200.7. The analytical results were reported as follows:
The dissolved selenium was not detected in the well or in Reichert's pond, the upstream and
downstream samples showed .004 mg/L. The dissolved aluminum was reported as .07 mg/L
upstream of the Reichert property and .09 mg/L downstream of the Reichert property. The PH
ranged from 8.1 to 8.6. The results are attached for your review.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 970-407-3600.
Sincerely,
_ --
/?
Eric Reckentine
Area Manager Northern Aggregates Division
LAFARGE WEST INC. -Lafarge Construction Materials
1800 N.
