III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
On September 28, 1996 at approximately ]300, Harry Ranney from the Divi-
sion of Minerals and Geology completed a partial aerial inspection at the
Hawk's Nest Mine. The mine is an inactive mine that has had its permit re-
voked and its bond forfeited. The Division of Minerals and Geology re-
claimed this site and is currently working on maintenance at the site.
Roads•
The old State highway which is the only road going through the site, is in
good condition at this time.
Backfill and Grading:
• The regrading of the east portal to correct settling, appears to be stable.
• Correction of erosion in the east yard area appears to be holding, and will
be checked from the ground during the next inspection.
Other.
A noxious weed control program has been established and is being carried out
by Gunnison County Weed Control.
