Digital photographs were taken of the <br />affected land and surrounding area and will be used to evaluate existing surface water <br />features as well as the extent of mining disturbance. Review of the photographs indicates <br />that there is a significant encroachment of the South Platte River toward the large pond <br />in the southeast portion of the permit area. A follow-up field inspection will be <br />scheduled to determine if any appropriate setback distances from the river are being <br />complied with, whether the river is encroaching toward the pond due to natural conditions, <br />and whether there is a need for stabilization of the west bank of the river in the <br />encroachment area. <br />2.
